About the city
Samarkand is the second-largest city of Uzbekistan and the capital of the Timurid empire. Registan with its three madrasas, the Gur-e-Amir mausoleum, the Bibi-Khanym mosque and the Shah-i-Zinda necropolis are within walking distance of each other.
Two hours from Tashkent on the Afrosiyob high-speed train.
